Take a Word-Butterflies

The challenge over at Take a Word this week is Butterflies.  I couldn't resist layering all of these beautiful butterfly wings around the woman in the picture.  The definition came from the first collage that I made on the computer, before I'd used Photoshop Elements.  You can see the other entries at

Ode to Leonard-Why cats shouldn't be mermaids

We lost one of our much loved elderly cats this week.  He was an outdoor cat for 16 1/2 years and moved into his own room about six months ago because he was really sick.  Leonard adapted well to living inside.  He'll be greatly missed.

Inspiration Avenue Challenge-Paris

Well, I've never been to Paris.  I concocted four 4x4 digital collages about my interpretations of Paris.  I just couldn't choose one so I've posted all of them.

The Artist's Playroom Challenge-Pears

My friend Jennifer, from Inspiration Avenue, had a fun challenge over at The Artist's Playroom.    She prompted us with creating an image using a pear as the subject.  I couldn't resist creating a Pear Fairy.  I guess sometimes you just have to play, just for the sheer delight of it.

Misplaced Mermaid Meets Magpie

This photo was taken in June when I met my Inspiration Avenue friend Maggie.  She was visiting her mother in a nearby town so we were able to meet for lunch.  It was really great to put a face with a name.  Most of us know each other only via the internet so this meeting was really special to me.

Three Muses Challenge-Birds of a Feather

During the Victorian era, feathers, wings, and entire bodies of birds were used to adorn ladies' hats.
Entire populations of many wild species of birds were decimated.  Some became extinct.  This link describes the fashion trend.

Inspiration Avenue Challenge-Fly

Diane challenged us with creating an image related to the word "Fly."  So many things came to mind but I decided to stick with colors and patterns from some work inspired by Kelly Rae Roberts.  I played with a variety of alphabet styles too.

Digitalmania-Kelly Rae Roberts

The digitalmania group's challenge is to create art in the style of Kelly Rae Roberts.  I looked at some of her work and found several quotes that inspired me.  I decided to create something that had similar components to the original work, with the same quotes.  It was lots of fun!

Inspiration Avenue Challenge-Teapot

Shelly challenged us to create art with a teapot theme this week.  The Graphics Fairy gave me the original clip art of the teapot but I modified it.

Happy Independence Day!

I made this postcard for my Inspiration Avenue friend Kim.  Then I realized it wouldn't arrive in the mail on time for the Fourth of July so I posted it on my blog instead.
