Last Day in Paradise

This was our last day in Kauai.  At this point, we're both feeling sorry for ourselves.  This is such a wonderful place to be.  I didn't see any mermaids, or at least I couldn't confirm they were mermaids.  I did get some viewable photos of a few fishy friends though.  If you've ever tried to take underwater pictures, you'll understand my excitement.  So often I get either a portion of a head or a tail.  These are actual fish I could identify.

Left-Christmas Wrasse  Center-Raccoon Butterflyfish

Foreground left to right-Saddleback Butterflyfish, Orangeback Surgeonfish, and White Goatfish (We call him Spot).
Center w/stripes are Hawaiian Sergeants.  The big grey guy refused to identify himself but is possibly a Brown Chub.  Spot's little sister, Dot, is off to the right.  Aloha!

Orchids

On Monday, we had visited the Farmer's market and I didn't get the orchids I usually buy.  Every time I've been in Kauai I've gotten a bouquet of orchids for five dollars.  I was very disappointed that they were all gone!  We went to Koloa today and I saw something I just had to take a picture of.

I don't know what kinds of orchids they are.  The brown and lavender ones had a beautiful scent, which surprised me.  I've never seen an orchid that had a scent.  Maybe they aren't orchids.  I'll have to check with my friend Ron, the orchid guy.  Wouldn't it be wonderful to have these growing in your yard next to the driveway?  Seems like a little bit of magic to me so I just had to share it with you.

Happy Birthday to Me-A Gift for You

Today is my birthday!  I expect to have a wonderful day.  I'm spending it with my terrific husband, Tracy, and I have no idea what we'll do.  I just know it will be fun.  To celebrate, I made this Free Fairies Collage Sheet for you.  I hope you enjoy it.  (I can't promise that I'll be able to save you any birthday cake but I'll probably serve Fairies' Food cake on September 23 at our Fairies' Tea.
